Description A large proportion of the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin in the Northern Territory, are burnt every year, releasing significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other Greenhouse gases into the air. Tiwi Islanders and CSIRO are working together on the Tiwi Carbon Study to develop a fire management plan that best meets the cultural, environmental and economic aspirations of Tiwi people.
