The Source Week 2: Vocal Warm Ups

Added by Music NT

In this video we will be shown how to warm up our voice for performance and practise. When we sing, we use our breath, mouth and our vocal cords in different ways to when we talk or yell or sigh. It can put more strain on our vocal cords and we can end up with a sore throat. This is why it’s important to warm our voices up properly at the start of a singing workshop or before performing. It’s just like a football or softball player needs to stretch their arms, legs and bodies and do other warm up exercises before a practice or a game. If we don’t warm up properly, we can end up doing long term damage to our vocal cords and wreck our voices, or we simply won’t sound as good as we could.
