Kab Kar Dance from Murray Island
Our CultureAdded by Oz Outback
Description Boys from Djarragun College, an indigenous school near Cairns in north Queensland, Australia, perform the "Kab Kar", a traditional dance from Mer (Murray Island) in the eastern Torres Strait Islands, at the Townsville Cultural Fest in 2010. They wear the "dhari" headdress made with cockatoo feathers. This was the very first time these boys performed this complex traditional dance.
