Daily Holla - Yolngu [Official Music Video]

Added by Daily Holla

'Yolngu' is the first single from my second EP.

It is a special song to me as it involves samples I recorded in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, Australia. I have been lucky enough to visit and grow up closely with an Aboriginal family since I was about 4. My dad wanted my brother and I to experience what traditional aboriginal culture was like, so we visited a family every few years. They have also visited us and spoke to my classmates when I was at school about Aboriginal culture. We were also lucky enough to be adopted into the family as the elder had sung for 'two white babies to come play with her children.'

On my last trip, I asked whether we could collaborate and record some singing and traditional music. They were excited to combine our two backgrounds of music and that's where these recordings came from

The music video is all footage I have filmed during my visits, It shows the family that we have spent many years with. I want to put this video out, highlighting and celebrating their amazingly rich culture.

'I am a real Aboriginal Australian, and that is my life - and you - you too, be an Australian'

Originally from Adelaide and now residing in the Gold Coast, Deadman has been making music since he was eleven. The Daily Holla project began at the start of 2015 when Harry was keen to combine his love of electronic beats, spacey guitar and intricate samples into a sound he now calls ‘Space-Gaze’. In late 2015 Deadman released his debut EP - "progress - EP" The ‘Progress’ EP delved into a fresh brand of woozy chill-step that features off-kilter samples collected abroad, instruments and vocals recorded in bedrooms and friend’s houses, and final mixing and mastering at Studios 301 in Sydney. Overall the six tracks highlighted an ability to move between down-tempo textural delights to thumping movers and shakers, always demonstrating a knack for velvety guitar licks and side-chain-heavy synthesis. Throughout 2016 Daily Holla has written his second EP, once again alongside producer Jack Prest at Studios 301. The second EP is set for release in early 2017 under the Inertia Records Inertia Access platform. The EP further explores Daily Holla’s combination of spacey guitar and electronic production. contact: dailyholla.music@gmail.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dailyholla/ Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/dailyholla
