I first heard about Bilingual Reverse Role Playing exercises for judges at and international translation conference organised by FIT, the International Federation of Translators, held in Melbourne in 1995. (If memory serves ....) Chief Justice James Gobbo described experiments he had conducted as part of judge training to raise awareness of challenges that he was well aware of as a bilingual Italian-English-speaking Australian. His talk was eloquent and edifying. The 2017 FIT conference will be held in Brisbane. I do not currently plan on attending, but suggest that someone who is might be able to put together a very interesting paper by combining Justice Gobbo's early work with the BRRP case presented here. I have sent an enquiry to AUSIT to see if anyone there has a record of Justice Gobbo's presentation.
I find it absolutely wonderful that this idea has finally been implemented.

I found this video very useful and worthy. The real picture is exactly as shown one well probably the atmosphere is not that positive.

It's a rather tense situation even without the language issue.
