Language Sovereignty - First Nations Languages October 2025 - Discussion Panel

The Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre held a conference 'Language Sovereignty- First Nations Languages' October 2025 in Kalgoorlie. As part of the proceedings, a panel of experts met to discuss the topic of First Nations language sovereignty.

The panel was made up of three distinguished elders with lifetime language commitment and knowledge. Raylene Button from the Kariyarra Nation in the Pilbara, Irene Jimbidee from the Walmajarri Nation in the mid-Kimberley, and Les Schultz from the Ngadju Nation Norseman, share their views on First Nations language sovereignty.
